How to Eliminate Screen Shake When Using Firefox Browser for Windows

Many users experience a vertical shake of the content on the browser window when navigating to a new page using Firefox in Windows. This annoying motion makes you a bit seasick as you surf the web. The culprit may lie in your Toolbars, and these instructions should help you isolate and eliminate it.

Steps :

The first thing to try will be to add a bookmark to the toolbar.I have cleared this issue by trying the above tip

1. Notice if your Firefox window shakes/jitters/bounces, try the following suggestions:
2. If you have the Winamp toolbar, disable it under the Tools>Ad-Ons menu.
3. Look to see your Bookmarks Toolbar is showing but it does not contain any bookmarks, add a bookmark to it or hide it (View -> Toolbars -> uncheck Bookmarks Toolbar).
4. Remove the Bookmarks Toolbar Items (View -> Toolbars -> Customize -> drag the Bookmarks Toolbar Items back to the Customize Toolbar window -> click Done) if you put your Bookmarks Toolbar Items on a different toolbar (such as the File/Edit menubar) and have hidden the Bookmarks Toolbar itself. Replace the Bookmarks Toolbar Items to where you want it.
5. Switch back to the default Firefox theme (Tools -> Themes -> Firefox (default) -> Use Theme) or try to see if there is a theme update that will fix the problem if you recently switched to a different Firefox theme.
6. Try switching back to the default OS theme if you are using a non-standard OS theme, or another OS theme, whether it be Visual Style or WindowBlinds, etc. Contact the author as he/she may not be aware of the issue with Firefox, usually with Bookmarks Toolbar padding.
7. Try the steps below if the above steps do not solve the shaking problem.
8. Open a Firefox browser window and confirm that the content on the page shifts alternately up and down a few pixels as the page is loading.
9. Open the view > toolbars menu.
10. Select the first toolbar that has a check mark next to it. This will remove the checkmark and cause that toolbar to cease being displayed.
11. Refresh your current page, or navigate to a new page, and look for browser shake. If the shake is eliminated, you have found the culprit.
12. Repeat step 4 until all the toolbars have been deselected, or you have found the toolbar causing the shake.
13. Return to the view > toolbars menu to ensure that all non-offending toolbars are turned back on.
14. If you have the extension eQuake Alert installed, disable the option to shake the screen when a new earthquake is reported.

Tips :

* Once you have found the culprit, you must decide whether to leave that toolbar off and suffer the loss of its functionality, or to leave it on if it is sufficiently important to suffer the browser shake.
* Consider contacting the author of the toolbar to inform them of the problem it causes.
* Check new plug-ins that you have installed.

Have you ever gone to a website where you try to right-click and it doesn't work? Have you ever wanted to right-click anyway in this situation? Well your browser can still display the context menu. The website just tells it not to. Well good news! You can tell your browser not to obey the website and display it anyway. That is, you can if you are using Mozilla Firefox.

Steps :

1. Click on the Tools menu.
2. Click Options... in the menu.
3. Click on Content (at the top of the window that appears)
4. Look for the check box saying "Enable JavaScript and Enable Java".
5. Uncheck it and click ok.
6. Search Google for "no right click script" enables websites to test this.

Tips :

* This will work on all sites.

Warnings :

* Some webapps use context menus and rely on scripts like this to not have the browser context menu appear and have theirs appear instead. In this case you will probably want to recheck the box.

* 80% of current websites need javascript. This tip will prevent these sites from diplaying properly.

The easiest method I’ve come across so far is by using a Firefox add-on called Facebook Video 2.1.8, and with it I’ll show you step by step how to get started downloading video from Facebook in no time at all.

Follow these STEPS....

STEP #1

Firstly, you must use Mozilla’s Firefox Internet browser.
STEP #2

Secondly, install the Facbook Video 2.1.8 add-on for Firefox.
STEP #3

Now find a video you want to work with. We’ll go over the three options which are to embed, download, or convert to other formats.

Embedding and Customizing Video

If you want to embed the video on a another website simply select the “Embed this Video” link on the right and then copy and past the code wherever you choose. Note that you can also customize this code by selecting the “Customize Code” link and entering desired width and length dimensions.

Downloading Video

Select the “Download Video” link. The video will then open up as an .mp4 object, filling the window in its entirety. Now select “Save Page As” from the File tab in the Firefox menu and choose where you want to save it on your PC.

Converting Video

To convert the video to another format select “Convert Video.” You’ll be taken to the Zamzar free file conversion website where you can then choose the format you want to convert it to: 3gp, .avi, iPhone, .flv, .wmv, or even .flac, .mp3, or .wav if you just want the audio from the video. Several aspects of the user interface have changed from XP to Vista and Windows 7. If your computer is shared by the rest of your family, it is nice to be able to give each person their own account. However, you probably don’t want to give the same functionality to each of them. Let’s take a look at how to add a new user account, an overview of each account type, and assigning the type to each user.

Add New User
To add a new user open Control Panel and under User Accounts and Family Safety click on Add or remove user accounts
Now click on Create a new account.
Just type in the name of the user and select the type of account. Your best bet is to make them a Standard User so they cannot make changes to system settings, delete other users important files, or change security settings.
Now when you reboot the PC you will see the new users you created at the log in screen.
Of course a user who’s account is password protected will need to log in to start their session.
Standard users won’t be able to make any important system changes without the admin password.
As Administrator you can make additional changes to the account like changing or creating user passwords.
Types of User AccountsThere
are three types of user accounts and each provides the user with different levels of control over the computer.

* Administrator – The Admin account have complete control over the computer and its settings.

* Standard – Standard users can use most of the capabilities on the machine. They cannot install software, delete system files, or change settings. If you’re working in a Standard account and need to make system changes, the administrator password will be needed.

* Guest – Let’s a user have temporary access to the computer. They cannot install software, make any changes, or create a password. This is a good choice for someone to use to check their email quick or type out a document.

Here is an example of what a user with a Standard account would see if they tried to monkey around with something they shouldn’t be.

The Guest user account it off by default but you just need to go in and turn it on.
The only changes available to the Guest account are changing the picture and turning it on or off.

User Account Tips

If you’re the administrator and installing software, remember to select if you want it available for all users or only yourself.
Keep in mind that if you shut down the machine while another person is logged in, they might lose all any data they have not yet saved. Even though you get a confirmation screen, it might be worth mentioning to other users so they are aware of it, especially in a busy household.

These basic tips should help create and configure user accounts so each member of the household has their own account when working on the computer.

When you subscribe to a YouTube channel, you're no longer notified only when someone uploads new videos. Now YouTube subscribes you to "all videos uploaded, rated, favorited, and commented on" by a certain YouTube user.

You can change the default option by clicking on "edit subscription", selecting "Only videos uploaded by ..." and "Default to this for all future subscriptions", but not many people will find those options. This feature has been added last month, but I only found about it today.

YouTube's help center has more information: "A YouTube subscription means subscribing to a user's videos and their public activity (their favorites, their ratings, etc). By subscribing to a user, you'll receive updates and stay informed when something new occurs."

YouTube's options page lets you disable your activity feed. "If you'd like to change which of your actions are publicly available on your channel and Recent Activity Feed you'll need to make updates on the Sharing Settings page. There, you'll see many actions, and boxes next to these actions. When you select a box, it will appear on your channel, and users subscribed to you will be notified when you perform this action. For example, if you have "Favorite a video" selected, other users will see a subscription update when you add a new video to your Favorites."

It seems that YouTube is promoting its social component more aggressively by suggesting potential friends from the list of Google contacts, by enabling activity feeds and engaging interactivity.

Google Reader added a feature that tries to sort the posts from your subscriptions based on your interests. The option is called "sort by magic" and it's available in any Google Reader view, but it's not enabled by default. "Your personalized ranking is automatically generated. It takes into account your past reading behavior (including liking and starring), and global signals. This process is completely automated and anonymous," mentions an article from Google Reader's help center.

The ranking algorithm was designed to prioritize the posts from subscriptions you frequently read and the posts that are popular among your friends and other Google Reader users. "Try clicking the like button on things you think are important or enjoy reading, and we'll learn to put items like that first," suggests Google.

Another change is that the list of recommended feeds and the "popular items" feeds have been consolidated in the new "Explore" section. "We use algorithms to find top-rising images, videos and pages from anywhere (not just your subscriptions), collect them in the new Popular items section and order them by what we think you'll like best," explains Google.

Google Reader is now more clever, as it uses attention data to personalize your reading list based on your past behavior.

Chu (Cleveland State University) has written several volumes covering Verilog and VHDL, the two major hardware definition languages used in the design of smaller digital systems. The volume reviewed here is an introduction to Verilog only. The book assumes that the student is already familiar with basic digital circuits. After an introductory section, the remainder of the work consists of worked examples that should be quite easily understood by students. Each chapter ends with suggested exercises that build directly on the examples from that chapter. There are sections that are specific to Xilinx Spartan FPGAs and in some cases, specific to the Digilent S3 prototyping board. A course that uses different hardware would need to provide supplementary material before using this book as a resource. Chu writes in a pedagogically sound manner and includes good coverage of the Verilog language, with nice attention to the differences between the 1995 and 2001 versions of the language. The volume suffers from some sloppy editing (e.g., a reference to VHDL instead of Verilog in one place, an incorrect timing parameter value in the appendix, miscellaneous typos) and a very skimpy index. Using the same technology behind Gmail’s “Suggest more recipients” feature, the webmail program tracks which people you normally email as a group (say, a team at work or a set of friends), and will flag the email if you’ve included someone who seems like a mistake. Google has also given “Suggest more recipients” the new name of “Don’t forget Bob?” which is more catchy, and makes it an obvious pair with the new feature.

Now, if you’re only sending the email to one or two people, Gmail can’t help you if you get it wrong.

This is the latest in a number of Gmail Labs features that help users avoid various possible mistakes while using email.

Adding Your Name Beside Taskbar Clock

Probably most of you have seen this trick before.But i think it's really nice.
I'm telling about adding your name beside taskbar clock.

Here is the trick (For windows XP):-
1. Click on Start menu. Then on Control panel.
2. Now click on “Regional and Language Options” icon.
3. In the “Regional Options” tab, click on “Customize” button.
4. After clicking “Customize” button, another window pops up. Now click on the “Time” tab.
5. Besides AM Symbol and PM Symbol, you can add anything that you want to display in the system tray.
6. If there is limitation of characters, you can even delete the AM and/or PM symbol. Apply, OK. Done.. Look at your task bar

Limitation of this trick:
You might have already observed that, you can not insert more than 12 characters(after deleting the AM and PM symbol).

To over come this limitation, we shall enter into registry.(Tested in Windows XP)
1. Click on Start button.
2. Click on Run.
3. Type regedit. Click Ok.
4. Now click the plus mark besides each of these -> HKEY_CURRENT_USER and then Control Panel and then International.

5. Now click on International. And find these s1159 and s2359. Right click and select “Modify Binary Data“, as shown in the above figure.

6. Now follow the above figure and modify the name.
Do not change the numbers. Just modify the text in the right most side. See to that, there is a period (DOT) after each character and 3 dots to specify/display a DOT in the system tray.

Members of a former software cracking group have discovered that audio files created with one of its cracked programs are distributed with each copy of the Windows XP operating system, possibly exposing Microsoft to a large-scale copyright infringement lawsuit.

The content in question can be found on every computer with Windows XP as operating system installed. Nine WAV audio files located in the folder " "Help\Tours\WindowsMediaPlayer\Audio\Wav" in the Windows installation directory include a signature of "Deepz0ne", a member of former cracking group "Radium". If the files are opened not with an audio player, but with a HEX editor or simply in Windows' own text editor Notepad, the last line displays as "000-04-06 IENG Deepz0ne ISFT Sound Forge 4.5".

A source confirmed to Tom's Hardware Guide, that the signature is "authentic for the cracked version of Sound Forge 4.5" and relates to the cracker Deepz0ne. "The Radium group has been dissolved about four years ago, but still meets every week in a casual manner," the source said. "One of the members circulated the information at a birthday part last weekend and then pitched the story apparently to Germany's PC Welt magazine," he said. PC Welt published the story the same day.

Sound Forge is a professional audio editing software popular among audio enthusiasts. Sony recently has purchased the intellectual property of the product from Sonic Foundry, which developed and sold version 4.5.

Why would Google replace its logo with a barcode? Probably because barcodes were invented 60 years ago. "This invention relates to the art of article classification and has particular relation to classification through the medium of identifying patterns. It is an object of the invention to provide automatic apparatus for classifying things according to photo-response to lines and/or colors which constitute classification instructions and which have been attached to, imprinted upon or caused to represent the things being classified," explains the patent.

To decode the doodle, upload the image to onlinebarcodereader.com and you'll notice that it uses Code 128 to encode "Google". There's also an online barcode generator.

It's not the first time when a doodle encrypted Google's name: Samuel Morse's birthday and Louis Braille's birthday were other opportunities for cleverly hiding Google's logo.

How to prevent the deletion of IE (Internet Explorer) history?. This post is the solution for it, if you want to know what your office staffs, or family members surf in your absense. To avoid misuse of your computer, do not allow users to delete their browsing history.

To prevent deleting Internet Explorer history, just change the rights of the user account created by Windows. This trick works in Windows XP, 2000 and Vista.

- Type the shortcut Windows + R (or scroll down the menu Start, Run).

- Type gpedit.msc and Press Enter.

- Open records successively Local Computer Policy, Computer Configuration (If you want this change affects only the user account currently logged on, select User Configuration).

- Then double-click Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Internet Explorer and Delete Browsing History ( right Click on Turn off "Delete Browsing History" Functionality.)

- Check the Enable and click OK. You must restart your computer to apply changes. Once this change is effective, the Tools menu's "Delete Browsing History" is no longer available.

Step 4 : Now the Kaspersky Window will be appeared . Select the specific product for which you want to download the updates.

Step 5 : Check the boxes which I marked in the figure and select appropriate product. Once done . click on Apply and then press Start to start the downloading process.

Step 7 : Downloading files will be start and a Command prompt will pop up and will show the status. All the required update files will be now downloaded to the folder “Updates“

Thats it. Once done, now you have the off-line
update for that product of kaspersky which you have selected.

How to use this downloaded files to update your Kaspersky product ??

* Right click on system tray icon of the Kaspersky Antivirus.
* Select the Update menu and click Settings .
* Click the Add menu, and find the location of the folder containing the update file above (download the Updates folder above)
* After added, remove the check for “Kaspersky Lab’s update server” and click OK.
* DONE.

It all began in Plaza Hotel, New York City on the 10th of November 1983. Two Microsoft founders Paul Allen and Bill Gates officially announced their corporation’s first and next-generation graphical user interface operating system – Microsoft Windows.

Despite the criticism on stability and constantly being compared to their rivals Apple Macintosh, Microsoft Windows is still the most widely used operating systems in the world. In this article, we’ll bring you back to 1985 where the very first official Microsoft Windows 1.0 was announced, and then we take a trip down memory lane to see all boot screens and desktop interface of all Windows operating system possible.

Windows 1.01 (1985)

Officially released on November 20, 1985, this 16-bit OS that cost less than 1MB in overall is Microsoft’s very first operating system that allows multi tasking with graphical user interface on PC platform that runs on MS-DOS 5.0.

Windows 1.03 (1986)

Introduced in 1986, Windows 1.03 is an upgrade to its previous predecessor Windows 1.01. Entire operating system cost about 2.2Mb hard disk space.

Windows 2.03 (1987)

Newspapers and websites around the world are buzzing with the news that water and hydroxyl (hydrogen and oxygen) molecules have been found in the polar regions of the moon. NASA announced yesterday that instruments aboard three separate spacecraft
revealed that water molecules were present, although in relatively small amounts. It was also discovered that hydroxyl also existed in the lunar soil. Although the amount of water found is small, it is exciting in terms of potential for the possibilities of establishing a lunar base and even for creating spacecraft fuel.

The data from a remote sensing instrument aboard Chandrayaan-1, India's first mission to lunar orbit, together with data obtained earlier from NASA's Cassini and Epoxi spacecraft missions, confirm that water and hydroxyl molecules are present. The spacecraft carried imaging spectrometers which made the mapping of lunar water more effective than on previous space missions.

When the Apollo missions returned to earth, the soil samples they brought with them were found, when examined in the laboratory, to be slightly “damp”. However, at the time, scientists were not confident that the water did not enter the samples on return to Earth.

"Water ice on the moon has been something of a holy grail for lunar scientists for a very long time," said Jim Green, director of the Planetary Science Division at NASA Headquarters in Washington. "This surprising finding has come about through the ingenuity, perseverance and international cooperation between NASA and the India Space Research Organization."

Chandrayaan-1 carried NASA's Moon Mineralogy Mapper, or M3 spectrometer. This instrument measured the reflective light from the lunar surface at infrared wavelengths which revealed new detail in the moon’s surface composition. When the data was analyzed, it revealed that the light wavelengths being absorbed showed an absorption pattern that was consistent with those of water and hydroxyl molecules.

"For silicate bodies, such features are typically attributed to water and hydroxyl-bearing materials," said Carle Pieters, M3's principal investigator from Brown University, Providence, R.I. "When we say 'water on the moon,' we are not talking about lakes, oceans or even puddles. Water on the moon means molecules of water and hydroxyl that interact with molecules of rock and dust specifically in the top millimeters of the moon's surface.”

Scientists believe that the water may be created as a result of the soil interacting with solar wind. A chemical reaction is triggered due to the space radiation, and the oxygen in the lunar soil attracts hydrogen nuclei to create water and hydroxyl.

Professor Taylor, a researcher at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, said, "If it is a little or a lot, it's easy enough to split into hydrogen and oxygen and then you have rocket fuel."

Given the need for finding new sources of water, this discovery is heartening. However, these molecules of water are bound to rock and dust molecules, so scientists would have to find a way of extracting the water. This could be a costly and technically difficult process. So, what will it mean for the future? Will astronauts be able to set up a base camp on the moon and will it be actually possible, in future years, to harness lunar water for fuel?
